Suspension of Cherbourg Service
21.2.12
Huelin-Renouf Shipping has taken the commercial decision to suspend its weekly freight service to Cherbourg.
The last shipment will leave the Channel Islands for Cherbourg on 16th March and return on 19th March 2012.
The service has been running since March 2010, shipping goods to and from France to Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Southampton.
Despite extensive investment in the development of the route over the last two years, the Company has found that it is not currently commercially sustainable to continue with the route.
In the current market and economic conditions, Huelin-Renouf has chosen to focus all its attention on its core business of serving the Channel Islands and the UK.
Huelin-Renouf wishes to thank all its customers who have used the service, as well as all of those who have supported the line in the Channel Islands and Normandy.
Huelin-Renouf will continually adapt to deliver a long term robust, resilient and sustainable business model with its core values of care, innovation through experience and customer service.
As always, the Company remains open to opportunities to serve its customers' needs and develop its business.
Should there be a significant increase in trade flows between the Channel Islands and France, Huelin-Renouf would be happy to explore the opportunity of resuming a service between the Islands and France.
